Abstract:
Municipal wastewater is very diluted and characterized by a low concentration of COD. In order to reduce operating costs and increase methane production, it is necessary to concentrate the influent.
However, this concentration determines an increase in the concentration of the incoming organic matter but also in salt.
This study investigates the effects of fluctuating salinity on the long-term operation performance of an anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) and on membrane filtration performance for municipal wastewater treatment.
The purpose of this thesis is the study of the main chemical, physical and biological parameters and the analysis of their dynamics over time through a continuous monitoring activity.
