Dalla bottega all'Accademia : la famiglia degli scultori Ferrari a Venezia nell'Ottocento

Abstract

Il presente lavoro cerca di ricostruire la vita e il portato artistico della famiglia degli scultori Ferrari di Venezia nell’Ottocento e di focalizzare il profilo della didattica scultorea in Accademia di Venezia dalla fine del XVIII secolo a quella del XIX. La tesi si articola in cinque capitoli, i primi due monografici dedicati a Bartolomeo e al figlio Luigi, in cui si ricostruiscono le biografie e i cataloghi delle opere. Il terzo capitolo dedicato a Gaetano in cui si ricostruisce una sua breve biografia. Un quarto capitolo che accomuna Bartolomeo e Luigi nell’esame della sfortunata vicenda della Gipsoteca Ferrari, donata da Luigi a Marostica città natale del padre. L’ultimo capitolo, relativo alla didattica accademica, integra quanto già emerge dalle biografie dei tre scultori. Negli apparati è possibile scorrere una selezione documenti manoscritti e di articoli attinenti alla ricerca.

The following works tries to retrace the biography and the artistic path of Ferrari family in Venice during the XIX century, focusing on the sculptural teaching approach in Venice Fine Arts Academy from the end of XVIII century to the the end of the XIX century. The thesis has five chapters, the first and second ones concern life and woks of Bartolomeo and his son Luigi and they present a catalogue of theirs works. The third chapter is about Gaetano and it retraces a short biography of the artist. The fourth presents the unlucky story concerning Ferrari plaster cast models that Luigi offered to Marostica, the town where his father Bartolomeo was born. The last chapter focuses on the teaching approach followed in Venice Academy and it completes what has been already said presenting the biographies of the three sculptors. In the notes it is possible to see a selection of articles and manuscript documents about this research.
